Began Conservation Science NRT Program Fall 2022

The collaborative and transdisciplinary approach to problem solving that UMaine’s NRT Conservation Science program offers was, and is, the exciting x-factor for me and what I believe is needed to tackle the daunting challenges biodiversity faces. I am excited to work with and learn from others in the NRT, pivoting my career to be more directly involved in applied ecological and social science research and analytically exploring both human dimensions and landscape and wildlife population ecology to produce recommendations for conservation planning and adaptive management practices that will create resilient human and nature communities.

I received a BA in General Science with a concentration in Biology from Rutgers University and an Ecosystem Measurements and Data Analysis graduate certificate from Penn State. I have over ten years of professional experience working in the operations and administrative space for conservation-focused nonprofit and government teams. I am interested in developing effective strategies for advancing conservation and climate resiliency, especially for Maine communities that are and will continually be faced with more complex and diverse climate and land-use change challenges. My MS research will be focused on a more integrated approach to jointly managing Maine’s forests and wildlife habitat. I also live for the ultimate trifecta of travel, outdoor recreation, and good food.
