Schedule of Events

We have designed two days of events to get you well oriented to your teaching, research, service and community roles at the University of Maine.  We recognize that even in that time, we can only scratch the surface of all the opportunities that exist at UMaine.  Throughout the month, partners across campus will be offering additional opportunities to meet, learn more and network on campus. See the “New Faculty Events Calendar” link to the left for more information on campus wide events.

Tours

Tours will depart from Wells Conference Center at 10:30am and return you to Wells by noon for lunch with your chairs and other administrators.

Research Tour:  Office of Research Development will guide a tour of the Innovative Media and Commercialization Center (IMRC).

Teaching Spaces Tour: CITL will guide a tour of the teaching spaces that exist on campus.

If you are interested in joining us on a tour, but forgot to do so during your registration, you can sign up when you check in on Wednesday morning.

Have your Photo Taken!

A Message to new faculty from the Division of Marketing and Communications:

Get Your Photo Taken! The Provost’s Office is planning to introduce the new faculty to the UMaine community with an online publication in early September. The publication will feature a photo and a short write-up on each faculty member. Our photographer will be at New Faculty Orientation Aug. 21, 8:30-10:30 a.m.

Photos also can be scheduled in our studio, 213 Alumni Hall, on Tuesday Aug. 6 between 8-9 a.m. or Wednesday Aug. 7 from 4-5 p.m. You can set up these appointments by contacting Jeannine Hashey, 581-3758; jeannine.hashey@maine.edu.

If you are not going to be on campus before Aug. 30, please send a high-res portrait for use in the publication. Deadline for photos is Aug. 30.

In addition, we need your short responses to the following. Please send your responses at your earliest convenience to nagle@maine.edu:

Name:
Title:
UMaine department/program:
Highest degree in what field, name of university:
Specialty:
Why UMaine (one sentence):

Where can you park?

You have either received a temporary parking pass from HR upon hire, or after you register for NFO, but you can also pick up one when you sign-in at Wells.

There is plenty of parking around Wells, including the Wells, Corbett, and Dunn parking lots.
