Alternative Grading Approaches
Explore six distinct alternative grading frameworks—including specifications, standards-based, labor-based, and contract grading—designed to make course assessment more meaningful, equitable, and transparent. Over six one-hour meetings, we will discover how alternative grading models directly mitigate AI misuse while satisfying Title II compliance by focusing squarely on measurable learning outcomes. Supported by light pre-work and discipline-specific examples, participants will engage in hands-on drafting to redesign their own course assignments week by week. The program concludes with a collaborative wrap-up session, positioning faculty to fully scale your redesigned courses in the upcoming optional Alternative Grading Institute.
Sessions stand alone, so come to one or all seven. Registration is required.
Alternate Mondays at 3:00-4:00pm in Fernald Hall. In-Person.
