Join Maine SAF for the summer field tour that will explore long-term CFRU research site, Austin Pond. Presenters will lead a walking tour through a handful of various treatments and PCT experiments. There will be a brief overview of new and concerning forest pests, as well as some established native insects that are outbreaking this year. The afternoon will be focused on a larch plantation tour to discuss a brief history of larch in New England, larch trials dating back to the late 80’s, larch silviculture, and potential uses for larch & carbon. There are 3.5 CFEs available for the day.
The group will meet at the Weyerhaeuser office in Bingham, Maine at 8:00AM. From there we will caravan to Austin Pond. More information can be found on the SAF website.
