Corinne Noufi
Meet Corinne, the Aquaculture Communications queen, at ARI, her role is vital, as it seems. She writes press releases, brochures, and social posts, creates graphics and videos, and is a podcast host! Her work helps enhance awareness far and wide, of world-class research conducted with great pride. Through her skills, she spreads the word with ease, a true Aquaculture Communications Expert, if you please!
In 2017, Corinne graduated from Seattle University, With a Bachelor of Science in Biology (of the sea). She studied fish food web ecology in Cambodia, sparking an interest in aquaculture with much euphoria. Fisheries and environmental health caught her eye, specifically how aquaculture could support them was the reason why.
Post-graduation, Corinne worked with zeal, at Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust, a non-profit for real. Ecological restoration work in the North Cascades, a noble cause for which her passion never fades. Then she headed to the University of Washington, to get a master’s degree, where she studied a ton. At the School of Marine and Environmental Affairs, she explored comparative aquaculture while she was there. Food production systems she also did explore, to convey the importance of topics to the community, that’s for sure! This culminated in a capstone on marine spatial in Puget Sound, a project she enjoyed and made her quite proud. Together with her colleagues, she co-published a paper so fine, “U.S. Aquaculture’s Promise: Policy Pronouncements and Litigation Problems,” quite divine!
After her master’s degree, Corinne had a new goal: a one-year Hershman Fellowship, an important role. With Washington Sea Grant and Puget Sound Partnership, she worked on projects with great enthusiasm and leadership. She crafted an Equity Guidebook with care, incorporating environmental justice into ecosystem monitoring, quite rare!
Hailing from Golden, Colorado, she’s got a love for the outdoors. From skiing to hiking, she’s always ready to explore. Mountain biking and trail running keep her in good shape and she’s always looking for a new challenge to take. Playing guitar and piano, she does with mediocre skill, but what she lacks in talent, she makes up with rhymes that kill.
