New Music Fridays: September
NEW MUSIC FRIDAY: 9/15/23
JACOB ARANDA, WAR PLANES
Born and raised, in rural Illinois, Jacob Aranda turned to music as an artistic expression. Using his roots to his advantage, the singer-songwriter focuses on psychedelic country, and his latest release War Planes continues that saga. With tracks like “Joshua” and “My Lovely Friend”, War Planes is a must-listen.
TALL TALL TREES, STICK TO THE MYSTICAL I
Tall Tall Trees pulls folk, hip-hop, rock, noise rock, and much more into a chaotic yet cohesive bunch of songs with their latest release, Stick To The Mystical I. The group (Mike Savino and Josiah Wolf) built the record off of improvisations and spontaneity, truly making this record a captivating experience.
MIRROR TREE, MIRROR TREE
Mirror Tree (Michael Gold) makes his entrance to the music scene with his self titled debut album. The LA-based artist combines psychedelic sounds and funky guitar jams to really entrance the listener.
SPARKLEHORSE, BIRD MACHINE
Bird Machine is the posthumous album from Sparklehorse, made up of the late singer/songwriter Mark Linkous. Uncovered by tapes and recordings from Linkous’ siblings, this record was never expected to see the light of day. Across the 14 unique tracks, Linkous demonstrates his signature intimacy and honesty through his lyricism and simple instrumentals.
