“Estuary Builder” Tool Workshop

Tuesday, April 4, 2023  |  12:30 – 4:00 PM

We invite you to join us for a free virtual workshop to train participants in the use of the “Estuary Builder” GIS tool for delineating, analyzing, and categorizing coastal Maine embayments and their contributing watersheds. This interactive tool allows users to draw an outlet line across any embayment or sub-embayment and returns data relating to land-sea connections influencing water quality and aquatic habitat conditions along Maine’s coast, with a focus on the sources, delivery, and residence time of freshwater flows into tidal estuaries.

This workshop is hosted by the Watershed Process and Estuary Sustainability (WPES) Research Group at the University of Maine with support from Maine Sea Grant. Instruction is geared toward state and local coastal resource managers and scientists, but all with an interest in coastal spatial data applications in the region are welcome, including undergraduate and graduate students. Basic working knowledge of ArcGIS is strongly recommended for participants to get the most out of this workshop. Those with desktop copies of ArcGIS will have the opportunity to download and install the beta version of the tool on their own computers. Others can participate through a virtual interface that provides remote access to the tool.

Workshop registration has closed.
