Jordan Thompson

Jordan Thompson is a senior at the University of Maine studying English with a concentration in Creative Writing and a minor in Interdisciplinary Legal Studies. He grew up in Caribou, Maine in the heart of Aroostook County and is serving as the Vice President of Student Organizations for the 2025-2026 school term.

This is Jordan’s third year with UMSG. Before stepping into the VPSO role, he held various positions in the General Student Senate. As a Senator, he worked to delegate club funding as a part of the Executive Budget Committee and had a voice on club recognition and storage as part of the Student Organizations Committee. He also regularly met with the Associate Provost and conducted meetings as the Academic Affairs Chair to discuss and raise student concerns centered around issues of curriculum and academic support. He sat on President Tripp’s first Cabinet last year as a Senator and now has transitioned into an executive role as the VPSO. He hopes to continue the work of refining the club process that his predecessor started and bring a fresh perspective on increasing advocacy and self-efficacy among organizations and sports clubs.

Outside of Student Government, Jordan can be seen advocating for students’ rights and wellness in other avenues. He’s a Peer Mentor for TRIO Student Support Services, working to support and empower first-generation or disadvantaged students through personal meetings. He writes for the Maine Campus opinion section with a focus on student/campus issues and serves as the Treasurer for UMaine College Democrats, where he promotes progressive organizing for issues he believes impact students. He also serves as the Vice President for the UMaine Pre-Law Society, fostering networking and professional development for peers interested in pursuing law school in the future.
