Keegan Tripp
Keegan Tripp is a fourth-year Political Science major at the University of Maine, with minors in Leadership and Legal Studies. Originally from Winn, Maine, he is currently serving his second term as Student Body President for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Keegan’s involvement in student government started early in his time at UMaine. After serving as a senator in the General Student Senate and chairing the Policy and Procedure Committee, he ran for Vice President at the end of his freshman year. He was elected and served during the 2023–2024 academic year alongside former President Michael Delorge. As Vice President, he worked on improving UMSG’s internal functions and building stronger connections with university administration.
At the end of his sophomore year, Keegan ran a successful campaign for President with his running mate and first Vice President Memphis Peterson. During their 2024–2025 term, they focused on making the student government more efficient and responsive to students, implementing fiscal reforms that improved the equity of Student Activity Fee funding, and led the largest increase in available student funds in a decade.
Most recently, Keegan was re-elected President in spring 2025, this time successfully running with Cynthia Shelmerdine as his Vice President. Together, they are focused on continuing efforts to make UMSG more accessible, responsive, and better connected to the student body.
Beyond student government, Keegan is involved all over campus. He is a brother of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, where he has served on the chapter’s Standards Board, and currently serves as Treasurer of the Hammock Club. He is also Social Chair of the Senior Skulls, UMaine’s male traditions society, which honors student leaders who contribute meaningfully to campus life through service, leadership, and involvement.
