If you would like to submit a book proposal or a manuscript to the University of Maine Press, please send it as a Word or PDF attachment by email to um.press@maine.edu. Please do not send manuscripts by mail.

Submissions should include:

• a cover letter with a general description of the work and how it aligns with the mission of the University of Maine Press
• a proposal or manuscript, with tentative title and subtitle
• your curriculum vitae
• a table of contents
• a sample chapter
• the estimated word count of your manuscript, including endnotes
• examples or descriptions of any artwork, including the total number of illustrations (photographs, maps, or graphs) to be used in the text
• a description of the intended audience for the work, and ideas for marketing it to that audience
• if the manuscript is not yet complete, please indicate its anticipated date of completion
