About The University of Maine Press

Research, Reflection, and Regional Relevance

About us

The University of Maine Press publishes books that deepen understanding of Maine, Northern New England, Quebec, and the Maritimes, supporting the University’s mission through original work in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. We publish peer-reviewed scholarship, essay collections, nature guides and books on wildlife, and archival projects that highlight the region’s history, culture, and environment. Our titles serve both academic and general audiences and reflect Maine’s diversity and complexity. We collaborate with authors, editors, and scholars engaged in regional issues and traditions. We promote research excellence, creative expression, and the many voices shaping life in the region.
