New Director of Research Compliance: Amanda Ashe
I am pleased to announce that Amanda Ashe has been named the Director of Research Compliance starting July 1st. In this role she will be overseeing the operational aspects of the Office of Research Compliance.
Amanda has worked at the University of Maine for the past 11 years, starting out in the then Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and moved to the Office of Research Compliance when it became its own department in 2017.
During Amanda’s career at UMaine, she has worked diligently to develop strategies in support of UMaine’s need for an enhanced compliance program, and as part of this implemented export compliance guidelines that align well with federal and state regulations.

Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School
Amanda Ashe began her career in research over 20 years ago. She joined the research administration team to become a more well-rounded researcher and says she found a deep passion for research compliance in this role.
She enjoys interacting with faculty, staff and students across campus – living vicariously through their research work and cheering them on from the sidelines.
“At the end of the day, I am passionate about research and discovery and am thrilled to have the opportunity to continue to support the exciting research and scholarly activity happening at UMaine,” says Ashe.
