Faculty Research Fund Program 2022 now accepting submissions
The Faculty Research Fund Program assists faculty in establishing or maintaining high-quality research programs and other creative achievements. The Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School provides funds for this program and proposals are reviewed by a panel of faculty peers. Eligibility is limited to full-time UMaine and UMM faculty, which includes tenured, tenure-eligible, and soft-money faculty for whom research is an expected component of their appointment.
There are three competitive programs with a common application framework and a shared deadline. The funding tracks are as follows: Regular Faculty Research Awards (up to $10,000); Summer Faculty Research Awards (fixed at $8,000); and Scholarly Equipment and Materials (up to $10,000).
Projects proposed to any of these tracks should be oriented towards concrete and relevant-to-discipline outputs. Such outputs may include performances, showings, publications, grant proposals, or others. When the Faculty Research Funds Committee weighs funding decisions for comparable proposals, it normally gives priority to tenure-track members of the UMaine/UMM faculty and to faculty members who propose to redirect their research programs. Award of FRF funds is based only on the quality of the application and proposed project, with no preference given to specific disciplines.
Complete competition details are available on the InfoReady platform.
