Local Trails (In order of Distance from Campus)


Piney Knoll (2.1 Miles)

Local multi-use trails that were mostly built by the mountain biking club on campus. Multi-use trails for hiking, and biking. Some fun drops and jumps. Otherwise pretty moderate casual terrain. Great for riders of all levels looking for nice cross country trails close to campus.

Essex Woods (9.8 Miles)

Very fun, well marked trail system built by volunteers. Has lots of cross country style trails, a fun skills park with wooden features (Drops, skinnies, and teeter-totter), and short downhill jump line called the spine trail. Great for riders of all levels.

Great Pond Mountain (41 Miles)

Very fun, well marked trail system built by volunteers. Has lots of cross country style trails, a fun skills park with wooden features (Drops, skinnies, and teeter-totter), and short downhill jump line called the spine trail. Great for riders of all levels.

Camden Snow Bowl (63 Miles)

Enduro style trail system with designated climbing trails to climb and fun challenging downhill trails. Wooden features and handbuilt trail managed by Coastal Mountains Land Trust. Has about 900’ of vertical, with more advanced trail at higher elevations. Park at Camden Snow Bowl.

Hammond Ridge (71 Miles)

Enduro style trail system with designated climbing trails to climb and fun challenging downhill trails. Wooden features and handbuilt trail managed by Coastal Mountains Land Trust. Has about 900’ of vertical, with more advanced trail at higher elevations. Park at Camden Snow Bowl.

Freemans Ridge Bike Park (96 Miles)

Enduro style riding with a climbing trail and multiple designated downhill trails. About 5 miles of hand and machine built downhill trails. Trails are “gravity based and progression Oriented.” More development is coming soon! Cost- Adult Day pass $10

Carrabassett Valley Trail System (111 Miles)

Over 77 miles of designated mountain biking trails for all levels and styles of riding. Very well developed trail system with a full time crew. Lots of cross country and enduro style flowy trails. More and more are being developed and downhill trails coming to Sugarloaf Mountain.

Saddleback Mountain (125 Miles)

Recently developed solid downhill trails, machine and hand built with fun features. More to come as the trail system is newly developed. Lots of opportunity for growth with more trials being put in.

Mt Abrams (142 Miles)

Lift serviced downhill bike park for all levels including beginners and families. Lots of really well developed downhill trails for all levels. Cool features and good trail building flowing from top to bottom using the natural landscape of the hill. Preach a laid-back, respectful, non-pretentious attitude. Ticket Price Varies from year to year.

Blackstrap Hill Preserve (140 Miles)

Enduro style trail with lots of cool downhill flowy trails and fun cross country leisure trails. Technical and flowy with great climbing trails. Great for aggressive riders who want to test their skills in one of Maine's most well developed trail systems. Very diverse trail with fun flowy berms, challenging tech, and lots of cool features and trail building.
