Spring and Summer Rental Information

We offer many items for rent to students, the University community, and the general public. On this page, you can find information about types of equipment, available sizes, and reservation blackout dates. For general questions or to make a reservation, call 207-581-1794.

For large group rentals please contact beth.jackson@maine.edu at least 2 weeks before you are planning to rent the equipment.

Rental Blackout Dates

Our equipment is shared with our trips and clinic instruction program. During blackout dates, walk-in rentals may be available beginning on Fridays for weekend dates that are not available for advanced reservation. Please call or stop by to confirm. 

Sleeping Bags are not available for October 25 & 26th, 2024

Spring and Summer Equipment Details

Get out on the water this summer! We do not transport boats to the Stillwater River. We do have car rooftop kits so you can transport them without a roof rack.

Make sure to follow Maine Boating Laws, including PFD requirements.  

Boats available for rent:

  • Canoe– Old Town Discovery 169, 7 available
  • Canoe– Old Town Guide 147 Canoe, 1 available Includes seat backs! 
  • Flatwater Kayak– Old Town Vaper Solo, 5 available
  • Flatwater Kayak– Old Town Loon Solo, 1 available
  • Flatwater kayak– Old Town Tandem, 1 available
  • Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUPS)- Glide 10 & 11ft hard SUPs, 10 available
  • Stand Up Paddle Boards– Glide 10’6 inflatable SUPs, 2 available. These come with inflatable PFDs, breakdown paddles, fin, seatback, and pump all in a carrying bag.

*boats, paddles, and PFD’s are all rented separately

  • Neoprene Water Booties– sizes 37-48(Euro)
  • Farmer John Wetsuits– XS-XXL
  • Canoe paddles– 48″-65″
  • PFDs (life jackets)– Child & Youth, Adult SM-XXL
  • Rooftop Kits– Car rooftop kits for vehicles without roof racks to transport canoes and kayaks. Kits include foam blocks and tie-down straps.
  • Anchors– Small boat anchors are great for paddle board yoga or canoes and kayaks.

Camping and Boat Rental Price List

Equipment is rented at the Maine Bound Adventure Center. Call or drop by during open facility hours. All reservations must be
paid in full at the time of reservation. We rent a wide variety of equipment to UMaine students, staff, faculty, and the general public. 

Please note that Maine Bound is only open 4:00-8:00 p.m. on weekends during the academic year and closed on weekends during the summer. Please plan accordingly for rental equipment pick up and drop off.

Call, email, or stop by with any questions.

We recommend emailing or calling in advance to set up your reservation. This will make the process much quicker when you come pick up your gear.
