Cole joined the Kerr lab as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in August of 2024. Cole is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, working on finishing his dissertation focused on abundance indices, catchability, and selectivity modeling for fishery stock assessments. Concurrently, he is engaged in postdoctoral research exploring how to account for climate change in traditional single-species stock assessment models and other management techniques like management strategy evaluation (MSE). His practical experience includes stock assessment modeling for New England groundfish and Atlantic bluefin tuna, providing him a strong foundation for his ongoing work. Cole holds a professional master’s degree from the University of Miami and a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia.
