The Keepers of Traditions
Basket making, stone carving, birch bark etching, woodcarving, doll making, beadwork and jewelry making are among the oldest, enduring, and unique traditions passed down through generations of Penobscot, Passamaquoddy, Micmac, and Maliseet peoples, known as the Wabanaki, or “People of the Dawn.”

Wabanaki Arts Market
Over 40 of the finest, award-winning artists will participate in the Wabanaki Marketplace for their southernmost gathering in the State of Maine. Don’t miss this special opportunity to appreciate Wabanaki culture firsthand through basket making, bead working, storytelling, drumming, singing, and dancing.

Sustaining Cultural Practices
Purchase museum-quality crafts directly from Wabanaki artists recognized for preserving important cultural traditions. Crafts will be offered at a wide range of price points. It is recommended that shoppers are prepared with cash and/or personal checks since not all artists accept debit/credit cards.

The ever-popular Burnaburnuskek Singers & Drummers will be drumming and singing – 12pm-1pm.

We Make You Welcome
Free admission and free parking. Rain or shine. BBQ dinner plates will be for sale to the public while supplies last.

Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village thanks all those who value quality educational and cultural experiences by supporting the Wabanaki Arts Market.  Thank you!
