Stipend and Benefits

Fellows are compensated with a $50,250 stipend for the 2025-2026 training year.  They receive healthcare and other benefits as salaried employees of UMaine.  For more information on salaried employee benefits, click here.

Library and Educational

Fellows have full access (in person and digital) to the UMaine library system. They also have access to the State Forensic Service library, which includes an archive of journals in the field of psychology and law as well as relevant books.

In addition to the annual stipend, Fellows are given an educational stipend of up to $2,500 that can be used toward purchasing books that are required reading for the didactic series, as well as to defray costs of attending a conference.

Fellows are offered free registration to workshops and colloquia hosted by the UMaine Doctoral Training Program in Clinical Psychology and the State Forensic Service.

Site Locations

The primary training site is the State Forensic Service office located  in Augusta, Maine.  Three forensic psychologists, including the Training Director, Dr. Sarah Miller, work at this site location.  Other supervisors and contracted examiners are located across the entire State of Maine.  The didactic series is held at the State Forensic Service office.  Fellows have an assigned workspace at this office.  In addition, Fellows should anticipate some travel for their work, such as to conduct evaluations at other locations and testify in court.

The UMaine Doctoral Training Program in Clinical Psychology is located in Orono, Maine. UMaine is the flagship campus of the University of Maine System and the state’s Land, Sea and Space Grant university.   Dr. Jeffrey Hecker, Dr. April O’Grady and potential research mentors are also located at UMaine.
