Presenter Biography

Bushra Amil is a 2nd year PhD Student and a graduate assistant working with the Literacy Education program in the College of Education and Human Development. Her research interests include Language and Literacy, Applied Linguistics, Translanguaging and TESOL. Before coming to UMaine, Bushra was an English (ESL) teacher in Pakistan, with her MS in Applied Linguistics from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, Pakistan.

Workshop Description

This workshop will explore the multiplicity of managing classrooms with multilingual learners. Participants will explore the numerous benefits and challenges of these richly diverse classrooms, with a focus on translanguaging strategies and best practices. This interactive workshop aims to equip teachers with tools and approaches to navigate various pedagogical translanguaging techniques in multilingual classrooms.
