Librarians Kickstarting Inquiry

Workshop Description

Great research begins with powerful questions. But how can we support students in formulating questions when they lack background knowledge and context? This workshop explores the intersection of artificial intelligence and the art of questioning to jumpstart inquiry.

In this hands-on session, participants will:

  • Explore how AI can support students in crafting Level 1, 2, and 3 questions while nurturing curiosity and wonder.
  • Experience a proven question-asking protocol enhanced by AI tools.
  • Consider strategies to balance human creativity with AI capabilities, producing thought-provoking and research-driving questions.
  • Gain practical skills in using AI to overcome knowledge gaps, enabling students to push beyond the limits of their current understanding.
  • Develop methods to ignite curiosity through technology-enhanced inquiry, transforming the research initiation process.

This workshop is ideal for educators and librarians seeking to revolutionize their approach to inquiry-based learning. Participants will leave equipped with hands-on experience in AI-assisted question formulation and strategies to cultivate deeper, more effective research skills in their students.
