After teaching 7th and 8th-grade math and serving in various leadership roles—including Technology Resource Teacher, Program Manager, Director, site administrator, and other district-level positions—for the San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD), Julie Garcia now serves as the Senior Director of Future Ready Learning. In this role, she supports the Math Department, Literacy Department, Science Department, Instructional Technology Department, and Library Services, working to ensure that students and educators are equipped with the tools, strategies, and mindsets to thrive in a rapidly evolving educational landscape.

Throughout her career, Garcia has been a strong advocate for integrating technology to transform teaching and learning. She is proud to be recognized as an Apple Distinguished Educator, and has led districtwide initiatives including 1:1 iPad classrooms, flipped learning, and digital curriculum development. Garcia has also supported professional learning for educators and leaders focused on meaningful, equity-driven uses of technology.

Garcia holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Education with a focus on Educational Technology. While she brings 20 years of classroom experience, her passion lies in supporting site leaders in implementing evidence-based, student-centered teaching strategies that drive deeper learning and engagement for all students.
