Certain coursework which does not qualify for regular undergraduate transfer credit may be eligible for CPL, when the coursework is deemed comparable or equivalent to one or more UMaine course offerings, and is applicable toward your degree progress.
Examples include graduate or post-baccalaureate level courses, courses completed at an institution whose accreditation is not recognized by CHEA or the USDOE, professional development courses, or other coursework for which an alternative evaluation method does not exist.
To request this type of CPL, first consult with your Associate Dean’s (AD’s) Office to verify that your coursework is able to be evaluated and is applicable toward your degree progress.
If your AD’s Office supports the request they will work with the appropriate department(s) to have your coursework experience evaluated. They will contact you if additional information is needed.
Once your coursework experience has been evaluated the reviewer(s) will make a credit recommendation to your AD’s Office. If your experience is recommended for credit, and determined to be applicable toward your degree progress, then your AD’s Office will grant approval for OSR to award applicable credits. If your request is not able to be evaluated or credit is not approved then your AD’s Office will notify you.
Questions regarding the status of previously submitted requests should be directed to your AD’s Office.
