Began Conservation Science NRT Program Spring 2020
The NRT Conservation Science program focuses on developing skills within the context of interdisciplinary and collaborative research. Throughout my own scientific career, interdisciplinary teams and stakeholder collaborators have been vital to my success. This program was attractive to me because it will help further develop my own skills as a researcher and facilitator. I hope to not only attain the Ph.D. degree, but also develop new science and speak towards the larger connections between engaged research, policy development, and coastal management.
I received a BA in Marine Science with a minor in Earth Sciences and Biology from Boston University, and a MS in Marine Policy, and an MS in Oceanography from the University of Maine Orono. I am interested in understanding the connections between engaged research, coastal management, and science-based conservation policy. My current research will focus on Maine’s shellfish fishery, particularly the implication of the development of statewide organizations like the Maine Shellfish Learning Network.
