Shayne Plourde

Shayne started working at CompuMAINE in the spring of 2014. At CompuMAINE, Shayne worked on his Honors Thesis, Modeling the Growth of Breast Microcalcifications in Mathematically Generated Breast Tissue Environments Using an Agent Based Model, which showed that there is a difference in simulated microcalcifications when grown in environments generated with different Hurst exponents. This difference was seen in the resulting fractal dimensions of the microcalcifications. Shayne successfully defended his thesis and received High Honors. He graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science in May of 2015. Shayne then attended Ohio State University for a master’s degree in mathematical sciences, with a concentration in Biosciences. He is currently working on his PhD in molecular, cellular and developmental biology at Ohio State.
