Statement of the JobThe Maginnis lab investigates virus-host cell interactions using human cell culture models and the human JC polyomavirus. We are seeking a research assistant to investigate cellular factors that contribute to viral infection and disease outcomes and support research activities. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $39,000 to $42,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Typically has the education associated with a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a biomedical field and 1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Experience or familiarity with cellular and molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to work in an active fast-paced environment and work at a biosafety cabinet, microscope, and/or computer station for long periods of time.
  • Ability to retrieve and lift packages 20-50 lbs occasionally.

Preferred:

  • Experience with cell culture and cell-based assays.
  • Experience with BSL-2 laboratory work.
  • Experience with microscopy including fluorescence microscopy.
