Canadian-American Center awards and fellowships
The Canadian-American Center offers graduate and undergraduate awards to students focusing on research related to the study of Canada and Canadian-American relations.
- Available to graduate students in all disciplines focusing on Canada or Canadian-American relations*
- A stipend (see Graduate School for updated amounts), plus a tuition waiver, and 50% of health insurance coverage
- Awards are available to both domestic and international students
New England-Atlantic Provinces-Québec Fellowships (NEAPQ)
- Available to graduate students engaged in cross-border research*
- One fellowship is reserved for a graduate student in History
- A stipend (see Graduate School for updated amounts), plus a tuition waiver, and 50% of health insurance covered
- Awards available to citizens of any country

- Available to graduate students in all disciplines focusing on Canada or Canadian-American relations*

How to Apply
To apply, proceed with a graduate coordinator from a UMaine academic department associated with your academic goals. The following link outlines all procedures and materials for the application process:

All application materials must be submitted to a graduate coordinator to submit no later than February 17, 2026.

*While past recipients of the Canadian-American Center awards may re-apply for an additional academic year award, please note that priority may be given to students who have not previously held Canadian-American Center awards.
