Guest Lecturer in Anthropology: Dr. Lisa Hodgetts of Western University

Join Dr. Daniel Sandweiss (Anthropology) and the Canadian-American Center in welcoming Dr. Lisa Hodgetts (Western University) to UMaine for a presentation of her recent work.

Dr. Hodgetts will present at the Memorial Union’s Bumps Room on September 18th from noon to 2 PM. Lunch will be provided.

Dr. Lisa Hodgetts is a Professor of Anthropology at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. For almost 20 years, she has been conducting community-based archaeology and heritage research with and for Inuvialuit. She previously led the Ikaahuk Archaeology Project and now co-directs Inuvialuit Pitqusiit Inuuniarutait (the Inuvialuit Living History Project) with Natasha Lyons and the Inuvialuit Cultural Centre. She has research interests in ethical archaeological practice and digital heritage, and was president of the Canadian Archaeological Association from 2020-2022. She is also a member of the Canadian Archaeological Association’s Working Group on Unmarked Graves, which supports Indigenous communities in their ground searches at former residential school sites.
