May and June 2024 Update

With the academic year at an end, students, faculty and staff alike are gaining some much anticipated rest from classwork. Here at UMaine, construction teams are hard at work on two much anticipated campus dining projects.

Starbucks at Class of 1944 Bear’s Den, Memorial Union

Construction teams have completed the demolition work inside the Class of 1944 Bear’s Den. The walls are in place awaiting the finishing touches.

Starting the second week of July, construction will shift to installing the Starbucks signature interior features. This space will remain named in honor of the Class of 1944, but will be infused with a fully-licensed Starbucks with its full menu of food and beverages.

The project remains on track for a soft opening in August.

Wells Dining at William C. Wells Dining Center

Home to the Wells Conference Center on the second floor, Williams C. Wells Dining Center welcomes three new UMaine Dining retail concepts to the first floor: Sal’s Pizza (a New England favorite), eat>NOW 24-7 autonomous store, and a pub yet to be named.

A pub-style venue offering pub food favorites as well as alcoholic beverages for people 21 and older (during designated hours). All three venues are slated to open in August.
