Ali Shirazi

Dr. Shirazi is an Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at the University of Maine (UMaine) and is also affiliated with the university’s Data Science and Engineering program. His research is geared towards the exploration of state-of-the-art statistical and data analytic methods to analyze transportation safety and operations. He received his doctoral degree at Texas A&M University in 2018. After his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Shirazi joined the lab for innovative mobility systems at the University of Michigan and worked as a research fellow until joining UMaine as an Assistant Professor in September 2019. Since then, he has led multiple nationally and state-funded research projects as a PI or Co-PI. Dr. Shirazi’s research has been documented in over 30 high-impact journal publications, book chapters, and technical reports. He also presented his work in multiple conference meetings, including more than 20 peer-reviewed papers at the TRB conference.
