Karen Medley has over 40 years of joyful experience teaching children in public elementary school music programs. Presenter at more than a dozen AOSA National Conferences, Karen is a frequent presenter for workshops, residencies, in-services, masterclasses and teacher education courses across the United States, including Hawai’i and Alaska. Currently, Karen teaches in summer teacher-education programs through the University of Alaska and Nazareth College in Rochester, NY. Twice, she was a guest lecturer in New Zealand, presenting courses and workshops through the Teacher’s College of Auckland University and throughout the country. Karen has directed several children’s choruses whose performances include singing Mahler’s Eighth Symphony, opening the National Blues Awards, performing at the 1989 AOSA National Conference in Atlanta, and singing Carmina Burana and The Nutcracker with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra. Karen served on the AOSA National Board of Trustees for more than thirteen years as a Regional Representative, as Chair and member of several off-board committees, and as National Conference Chairperson for four AOSA National Conferences.
