Mary Tedesco-Schneck, Ph.D., RN, CPNP
Mary Tedesco-Schneck is a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and an Associate Professor in the UMaine School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Rutgers University and her Masters of Science in Nursing as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Seton Hall University. In May 2016, she earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Education with a concentration in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Maine. She is certified by the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Associates and Practitioners (NAPNAP) and continues to maintain a practice at PCHC Penobscot Pediatrics Walk-in-Care. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings, which include primary care, acute care, and home care both in New Jersey and Maine.
She serves as a member of the board for the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is the first nurse to have served in this capacity. Dr. Tedesco-Schneck frequently provides testimony before the Maine State Legislature to advocate for policies that promote the health of children, adolescents, and families. She has secured grants for the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics to train primary and school-based health care providers in cognitive behavioral therapy to help meet the mental health needs of children and adolescents.
She serves as a mentor for new faculty and precepts nurse practitioner students in the clinical setting. She has established a record as an accomplished teacher and mentor at the graduate and undergraduate level and as an advocate for the health and well-being of Maine’s children, adolescents, and families. Outside of work Mary enjoys hiking, cycling, and kayaking. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters, family, and friends. She lives in Bangor with her husband John and dog Riley.
