My research is centered on geophysics-based investigations of the cryosphere, with a particular focus on understanding ice flow dynamics in alpine glaciers. I use various forms of ground-penetrating and phase-sensitive radar to measure ice depths, englacial stratigraphy, and movement over time. I am currently working on coupling these measurements with three-dimensional numerical modeling techniques to improve depth-age scales at ice core sites in Denali National Park (Alaska, USA) and the St. Elias Mountains (Yukon, Canada). I have a background in leading mountaineering expeditions in remote areas around the world, and love getting to spend time studying the complex behaviors of glacial ice.
