CLEP Testing

College Success Programs administers the University’s College Level Examination Program (CLEP).

Please note that CLEP testing has moved to Alumni Hall. Use the entrance closest to the library.

CLEP, College Level Examination Program, is a division of the College Board, the same people that bring us SAT and ACT testing. The University of Maine is an official CLEP testing center. Although UMaine students, as well as community members, may opt to take any and all exams offered by the College Board, only specified exams will be granted credit at the University of Maine. Students attending other institutions of higher education should check with their program coordinator for verification on which exams they will receive credit for. Primarily comprised of multiple-choice questions, the 90-minute examination covers general material relevant to the subject matter. The majority of successful CLEP exams earn the students three-degree credit hours.
