Graduate Student Ambassadors

Below is a list of current graduate students who would be happy to answer your questions about our graduate program. Please take time to read the descriptions provided by the students to determine who might be most helpful in answering your questions.

Isabel Berman, she/her, isabel.berman@maine.edu
Hometown: Cape Elizabeth, ME, Undergraduate: University of Vermont

At this point in graduate school, I am most interested in working in…a school, a behavioral health practice, in both pediatric and adult acute medical settings, and rehabilitative facilities.

You might be interested in contacting me if… you are from Maine, you’d like to learn more about Maine, you are from a non CSD background, you did not take time off before starting graduate school, or if you have any other questions!

I would choose UMaine for a graduate program because… there is a clinic right on campus! You get immediate clinical experience with the support of knowledgeable and approachable supervisors. The second year students make an effort to be welcoming and available for questions! The faculty, staff, and your peers want you to succeed; the program feels collaborative.

Julianne Bragg, she/her, julianne.bragg@maine.edu
Hometown: Newport, ME, Undergraduate: University of Maine

At this point in graduate school I am most interested in working in... a diverse number of settings and exploring the field to the fullest extent.

You might be interested in contacting me if… you are from Maine and plan on commuting to campus, you transferred into a communication sciences and disorders program halfway through your bachelor’s degree, or if you have prior professional experience in the healthcare field.

I would choose UMaine for a graduate program because… my undergraduate experience was fantastic. The faculty is dedicated to creating unique learning experiences through various research opportunities, and the on-campus clinic. Working clinically and doing research in Maine gives insight to the value of working with rural populations. Maine is a one-of-a-kind place, with beautiful views and a rare culture that I can’t get enough of!

Samantha Condon, she/her, samantha.condon@maine.edu
Hometown: Houlton, ME, Undergraduate: Husson University

At this point in graduate school, I am most interested in working with… school aged children/adolescents in a school, private practice, or clinic setting.

You might be interested in contacting me if… you received your undergrad at a school other than UMO, your undergrad is non CSD (specifically education), you want to know more about Maine from someone who grew up here, or if you have any questions about the program or campus!

I would choose UMaine for a graduate program because… the cohort size is small which allows you to build trusted relationships with peers and faculty creating a supportive and collaborative environment. The on campus clinic is also a huge benefit of this program, providing an opportunity to work with a diverse caseload with the support from experienced supervisors.

Sophie Dean, she/her, sophie.dean@maine.edu
Hometown: Keene, NH, Undergraduate: University of Maine

At this point in graduate school, I am most interested in working in… acute medical settings or private practice with pediatric clients.

You might be interested in contacting me if… you are considering living on campus, you did not take time off before pursuing graduate school, you are interested in research, or you want to know more about Orono or Maine from someone who completed their undergrad at UMaine!

I would choose UMaine for a graduate program because… there is an on-campus clinic that provides immediate hands-on experience with a diverse caseload of clients upon beginning the program. Additionally, the program features a small cohort size that fosters a supportive environment with your peers and experienced supervisors, as well as there are lots of research opportunities for those with an interest!

Torri MacIntosh, she/her, torri.macintosh@maine.edu
Hometown: Fredericton, New Brunswick, Undergraduate: St. Francis Xavier University

At this point in graduate school, I am most interested in working in… all populations, but I am especially loving working with preschoolers and school-aged children!

You might be interested in contacting me if… you are a Canadian prospective student with questions about the international student process, you completed your undergraduate degree in a field other than CSD (I studied Health Sciences!), or you are curious about the program or the profession from the perspective of a current grad student.

I would choose UMaine for a graduate program because… the cohort, supervisors, and professors form a close-knit and collaborative community, creating an incredibly supportive environment. The immediate clinical exposure and the wealth of knowledge shared by both peers and mentors is truly invaluable. On top of that, Orono gives such cute small-town vibes, and the scenery—especially in the fall—is absolutely beautiful. With such a small cohort, you are guaranteed to make lifelong friends as you grow together and develop into clinicians.
