Preserving Ash, Protecting Traditions

An event focused on learning effective strategies to preserve ash and its unique cultural and ecological value, featuring expert talks and live Wabanaki basketmaking demos.

10:00 AM  A series of flash talks from experts on topics including:
-Cultural significance of ash trees & IDing ash species
-Ash preservation values
-Maine Forest Service’s monitoring, biocontrol, and chemical treatment programs
-Ash forestry & silviculture
-Bangor’s ash management plan
12:00 PM  Bring your own lunch
12:30 PM  
Wabanaki brown ash pounding demonstrations
2-4 PM      
Optional forest walk to practice ash ID & seed collection
