Kenny Keezer and Debbie Nicolas

Kenny Keezer and Debbie Nicholas come from a long line of Passamaquoddy basketmakers that includes mothers, aunts, uncles, cousins and ancestors going back generations. Both Kenny and Debbie carry on the legacy of renowned Passamaquoddy basketmaker Clara Neptune Keezer (1930-2016), who received a National Heritage Fellowship Award from the National Endowment for the Arts. Clara passed the tradition on to her son Kenny and today he weaves baskets forms with hallmark designs that celebrate the weaving artistry of the Neptune-Keezer family. Debbie draws inspiration from the works of her aunts, Clara and Theresa Neptune Gardner and her mother Edith Pond. Both live at Sipayik (Pleasant Point) in Perry, Maine.
