Maya Glyph Activity – Step 2
Step 2: Pick a main syllable
Say your name out loud a few times and figure out which syllable has the stress on it. For example, if you say the name “Amanda” you stress the second syllable: aMANda (you don’t say amanDA, you put the stress on the “man” part of the name).
Here are our examples with the stressed syllables in bold:
Amanda becomes A-ma-n(a)-da
Benjamin becomes Be-n(e)-ja-mi-n(i)
Kristen becomes K(a)-ri-ste-n(e)
Don’t stress (ha!) if you have trouble with this part. You can also simply choose a syllable near the beginning or middle of your name to form the core of your glyph block.
Once you have chosen the main syllable in your name, you are ready to choose glyphs!
