Penobscot Sarah was born in 1983 and spent her early years in Brooklin, Maine. Her great grandmother made baskets on Indian Island. In 2004 Sarah apprenticed with Jennifer Neptune as part of the Maine Arts Commission Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program.
