Student Experiences

Undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to work with world-class researchers and laboratories to gain real-world experience. Students working with the SM²ART program attend conferences, travel, complete internships, and do capstone work paving a pathway for future career opportunities. Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU)

The University of Maine and Oak Ridge National Laboratory SM²ART Program is pleased to offer another ten-week summer research experience for undergraduates in 2024. The REU Program aims for participants to develop and utilize new knowledge in an ethical manner to address the development of sustainable composite materials from the Maine forest.
