Gender-based violence – including rape, relationship violence and sexual assault – is a huge problem in our society.
Join us a the Wilson Center for a free dinner and discussion about gender-based violence and the role spiritual and faith communities can play in changing culture and addressing this problem.
Arianna Sessoms, of the Office of Sexual Assault & Violence Prevention at UMaine, will lead us in an exploration of questions such as:
- What are the myths about sex and gender that contribute to rape culture?
- What role do faith communities play in these myths?
- How can faith communities work to challenge such myths?
- How can spirituality and faith help in the healing process for survivors?
- What can we do to support survivors in our spiritual communities?
- How can faith and spirituality contribute to a violence-free world?
EVERYONE is welcome!
