Campaign priorities

Fostering Student Success
Student success is at the heart of the University of Maine. As a student-centered university, UMaine offers scholarships, the state’s most comprehensive academic offerings, unparalleled student research opportunities, and internships and other community engagement initiatives. As part of the UMaine experience, students are involved in real-world enterprises that inform their academic work and provide growth opportunities. It’s in these engagement opportunities that students discover their passions and forge their paths.

Ensuring Access for All of Maine
The University of Maine was established to serve Maine and its people. Maine’s flagship university provides teaching, research and economic development, and engagement statewide. UMaine is committed to accessibility and affordability, and links its resources with the needs of industries and businesses, schools, cultural organizations, state government and communities. We attract the best and brightest students, champion lifelong learning, provide outreach in every Maine county, and offer unique initiatives in arts and athletics.

Catalyzing Maine’s Economy
Maine’s potential is UMaine’s purpose. As the state’s major research university, UMaine delivers infrastructure and innovation, prepares the future workforce, and collaborates with businesses and organizations in the public and private sectors to grow Maine’s economy. World-class faculty turn knowledge into solutions and mentor students to be tomorrow’s leaders. Every year, the University of Maine graduates more students than any other institution in the state, and those graduates are prepared to succeed.

Accelerating Discovery to Impact
UMaine’s nationally and internationally recognized research benefits Maine. Undergraduate and graduate students collaborate with faculty conducting fieldwork and scholarship throughout the state and around the globe. This engagement, at the core of the state’s public research university, enriches the academic experience and helps address real-world needs. UMaine students graduate from Maine’s land grant university knowing
the difference their contributions can make in this state and beyond.
