About Emily Hanscom

Emily, known as “Em” at VEMI, is a fourth-year undergraduate student studying Biomedical Engineering. Em’s inquisitive nature and ambition for putting people first led her to a leadership position in the lab. She is the Director’s Assistant, working directly with Dr. Richard Corey on all the “behind-the-scenes” work for the lab. She is the communication coordinator for many events, from tours to social gatherings to celebrations and meetings. Her attention to detail and organizational skills allows her to excel in any task given. Students particularly enjoy Em’s personality, never leaving her office without a smile. Recently, she has found a deep interest in human-computer interactions and UX research. In her free time, Em loves gaming with her friends, reading classics, and partaking in outdoor activities, especially with her golden retrievers. We can’t wait to see what Em and her contagious smile bring “to the world we live in and the one we dream about” (Hadestown) as she continues to grow!
