The Bangor Daily News reporter <a href=\"https:\/\/bangordailynews.com\/act-out\/?_ga=2.225152537.2047615241.1620999308-1493106944.1620999307\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Aislinn Sarnacki has a wonderful series of hikes across Maine<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcht.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Maine Coast Heritage Trust<\/strong><\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/frenchmanbay.org\/preserve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Frenchman Bay Conservancy<\/strong><\/a> both have phenomenal coastal preserves with hiking, paddling, and nature-watching!<\/p>\n<h4>Aroostook County<\/h4>\n<p>Since hiking trails in Maine tend to be more extensive, we have compiled a list of trails organized by county. Keep in mind many of these trails can be joined at various locations, not just beginning, and endpoints.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.internationalatmaine.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">International Appalachian Trail<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<em>From Mount Katahdin through New\u00a0<\/em><em>Brunswick, Canada<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>Fort Fairfield is the last United States point on the International Appalachian Trail and offers plenty of opportunities for visitors and residents to hike and see the beautiful scenery that Aroostook County offers. A great two-mile section of the International Appalachian Trail goes up to the summit of Mars Hill Mountain, offering fabulous views across northern Maine and all the way to Mount Katahdin!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.traillink.com\/trail\/aroostook-valley-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aroostook Valley Trail<\/a><\/strong> <em>Presque Isle and New Sweden, ME<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>A 28.8-mile trail that is part of the Interconnected Trail System, and allows for ATVs, horseback riding, mountain biking, snowmobiling, walking, and cross country skiing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.traillink.com\/trail\/bangor-and-aroostook-trail\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bangor &amp; Aroostook Trail<\/a><\/strong> <em>Van Buren, Mapleton, and Caribou, ME 04736 <\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>61-mile multi-use trail that is part of northern Maine&#8217;s Interconnected Trail System. It is used and maintained by various snowmobile clubs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caribourec.org\/?page_id=13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Collins Pond Park<\/a><\/strong> <em>27 Caribou St, Caribou, ME 04736 | (207) 493-4224<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>This park has a 1.5-mile walking and bicycle path with a playground and a rentable pavilion with kitchen facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.maine.gov\/cgi-bin\/online\/doc\/parksearch\/details.pl?park_id=50\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Eagle Lake Public Reserved Land<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0<em>Eagle Lake, ME 04739<\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8220;Eagle Lake is a 23,000-acre unit including most of Eagle Lake in northern Maine.
