Welcome to Mars Hill!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Mars<\/p>\n

Mars Hill, incorporated in 1867, was named by a chaplain of the British Army, and the British declared that the hill served as the border between the United States and Canada. Later, the Webster-Ashburton Treaty made it clear that the hill was part of the United States. From the very beginning of this town’s existence, the economy was made up largely of agriculture and trucking; a quick drive through the town today will reveal that this is still the case!<\/p>\n

Mars Hill’s namesake mountain provides a beautiful backdrop to the town and boasts a local ski area, Maine’s first wind power project, and a section of the International Appalachian Trail.<\/p>\n
