Hartford's J & O Irish Museum
Maine An EncyclopediaHartford’s J & O Irish Museum

The town of Hartford was incorporated in 1798 from an earlier settlement called East Butterfield Plantation, and named after Hartford, Connecticut. After exchanging plots of land with neighboring towns several times, Hartford reaches its current for in 1862. The town’s frontage on Bear Pond is a popular destination for summer visitors. Hartford is one of few rural Maine towns to have steadily increased its population over the past fifty years, thanks to its natural beauty and rural lifestyle. (Source)
