Hunting and Fishing Itinerary
Note – we put some scheduled times in here just to give you some ideas. You can pick and choose what you want to do. Be sure to look at when they are open and if there are any COVID restrictions. In fact, it would probably be a good idea to call any that you plan to visit just to be on the safe side.
DAY 1: Hunting
Dawn: Scopan Public Reserved Land
Start off your day early at dawn for best luck with hunting.
1:00 PM: Lunch at the picnic area at Scopan Public Reserved Land
Before your trip, you should plan on bringing lunch with you into Scopan Public Reserved Land, since the closest town is Presque Isle which is about 45 minutes away. We recommend stopping at The Sandwich Shop for some sandwiches to pack in a cooler.
2:00 PM: Spend the rest of the day either continuing hunting or exploring the land
Other activities at Scopan Public Reserved Land include canoeing, fishing, wildlife watching, walking along trails, or going up Scopan Mountain.
45 min drive to Pat’s Pizza
6:45 PM: Dinner at Pat’s Pizza

Finish off your day at Pat’s Pizza, a classic Maine restaurant with several locations across the state.
DAY 2: Fishing
Dawn: Aroostook State Park

Start your day early at dawn again at Echo Lake in Aroostook State Park to go fishing for bass, brook trout, splake, perch, pickerel, and landlocked salmon.
12:00 PM: Lunch at the picnic area at Aroostook State Park
Again, it is recommended to pick up lunch somewhere in town Presque Isle before heading to Aroostook State Park.
1:00 PM: Explore the rest of Aroostook State Park
Either go back to fishing or see what the rest of the state park has to offer. Other activities include swimming, hiking Quaggy Jo Mountain, or you can rent canoes and paddleboards and hit the water.

6:00 PM: Dinner at Irish Setter Pub

Packing Checklist
The weather in Maine can be unpredictable. Therefore, here are some ideas to be prepared. Wear comfortable clothes and dress in layers, Maine is very casual, so you probably will not find any restaurants that require formal attire.
Spring/Summer/Fall: clothes, comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes for walking, sun hat, sunscreen, sweater or jacket, insect repellent, toiletries, and phone/camera
Winter: clothes (layers), ski pants highly recommended, winter boots, jacket, hats, scarves, gloves, warm socks, toiletries, and phone/camera. Please pack a helmet if you are participating in snowmobiling, skiing, or snowboarding.

Aroostook State Park
In 1938, the citizens of Presque Isle donated 100 acres of land to the State of Maine creating Maine’s first state park. Today, Aroostook State Park is almost 800 acres and Maine has 48 state parks.
This is an ideal starting point for discovering the North Maine Woods and the Allagash Wilderness Waterway.
