Columbia Falls

Ruggles House

Welcome to Columbia Falls!

Columbia Falls was originally one with the nearby town of Columbia as one larger town by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the late 18th century. In the mid-19th century, Columbia Falls became its own established town, and industry in the form of lumber and shipbuilding began to grow. The quality lumber that was milled here helped contribute to the development of beautiful Federal-style architecture that dots the landscape.

As time went on, the economy shifted as well. Columbia Falls oriented itself toward the growing wild blueberry industry as well as the balsam farming industry, where today wreaths from the area are popular throughout the state!
