In fact, it would probably be a good idea to call any that you plan to visit just to be on the safe side.

Start the day off with breakfast at a local favorite, Sadie’s Bakery! Open Tuesday-Friday 6:30 am- 1:30 pm and Saturday 6:30- 11:00 am

9:00 am: Meduxnekeag River Trail

The Meduxnekeag River Trail is 3 miles long. !“Get some exercise, enjoy nature and tread a riverside path used for thousands of years. You may see eagles, moose, deer, osprey, bears and all manner of small game.”

11:00 am: Shopping in Market Square
Stroll across the Gateway Bridge to Market Square and check out stores such as Country North Gifts and Jean’s Serendipity & Fish N’ Friends. (If Saturday, the Farmers’ Market will also be in the Market Square.)

2:30 pm: Head to the Maine Visitor Information Center

At the visitor’s center, you will find Pluto! Pluto is the end of The Maine Solar System Model! Open from 8:00 am- 6:00 pm during the summer!
3:00 pm: Southern Bangor and Aroostook Trail starting from Hannaford

Starting from Hannaford (where you will park your car), proceed behind the building to begin walking or biking on the trail. (Watch out for ATVs!) “Northern Maine’s pine trees and potatoes inspired the railroad that survives today as the 38.8-mile Southern Bangor and Aroostook Trail. Located in eastern Aroostook County near the Canadian border, the trail extends from near Presque Isle south to Houlton, mostly through farmland with occasional excursions into forests and wetlands.”

The weather in Maine can be unpredictable. Therefore, here are some ideas to be prepared. Wear comfortable clothes and dress in layers, Maine is very casual, so you probably will not find any restaurants that require formal attire.
Spring/Summer/Fall: clothes, comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes for walking, sun hat, sunscreen, sweater or jacket, insect repellent, toiletries, and phone/camera
Winter: clothes (layers), ski pants highly recommended, winter boots, jacket, hats, scarves, gloves, warm socks, toiletries, and phone/camera. Please pack a helmet if you are participating in snowmobiling, skiing, or snowboarding.
