Ludlow

Welcome to Ludlow!

Mapleton Potato Field

The small town of Ludlow was incorporated in 1864 from the earlier Belfast Academy Grant Plantation and “the town is named after Ludlow, Massachusetts.” (McCauley p.101 – The Names of Maine) Like many Aroostook County towns, it is primarily an agricultural community growing mainly potatoes, although farmers continue striving to diversify their crops. Ludlow is perhaps most famous for appearing in several of Maine author Stephen King’s novels, including Pet Sematary and The Dark Half.
