{"id":41462,"date":"2020-10-02T13:01:12","date_gmt":"2020-10-02T17:01:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/umss\/?p=41462"},"modified":"2022-06-24T14:27:56","modified_gmt":"2022-06-24T18:27:56","slug":"award-winners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/umss\/2020\/10\/02\/award-winners\/","title":{"rendered":"2020 UMaine Student Symposium announces award winners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a virtual platform, 270 students showcased 131 research and creative works at the 2020 UMaine Student Symposium held on October 2.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth annual symposium provided an opportunity for the public to view student research and scholarly work \u2013 all online due to COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The free public event was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Dean of the Graduate School, the Center for Undergraduate Research (CUGR), Student Government, and the Graduate Student Government as part of Maine Impact Week.<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 85 volunteer judges scored projects in 10 categories encompassing all fields of study at UMaine. The top students were awarded at the close of the virtual ceremony.<\/p>\n<h3>Special award<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Dr. Susan J. Hunter Presidential Research Impact Award:<\/strong> Daniel P.
